It is that time of year when most people are looking to use Valentine’s day as an opportunity to rekindle, or convey love and romance.

Often, we will be scrambling to book a dinner date in our favourite restaurant. ‘Special meals’ are promoted by several establishments. All keen to get our glad rags on, we glow with excitement! Whilst that is fine, and typically the default position, you don’t have control over what happens, and it is not really ‘your’ evening. It tends to be a ‘one size fits all’ scenario.

This year, why don’t you curate your own Valentine’s date? It is not nearly as difficult as you imagine, and it does not matter whether you are a great cook, or don’t know the difference between a saucepan and a pot. The key is to put thought and effort into creating a date that reflects the depths of your affection. Don’t overthink this! Stick to your abilities. It does not matter WHAT the meal is, what matters is WHO you are eating with. Sharing a meal can create an intimate and connected experience. It creates an opportunity for meaningful conversations and bonding. Setting a captivating atmosphere is also important.

If however you are totally out of your depths in the kitchen department, but still want a superbly delicious meal, then get in touch and we will take care of that, whilst keeping shtum! (A customer of ours has been ‘cooking’ Jollof rice for her husband for years, after she has visited our stall… ha ha) With us taking care of the food, you can spend your time getting scrubbed up well. If you book early, we can arrange to deliver it at exactly the right time for you.

Whatever you decide to do, make it YOUR OWN.

see you next month …..

Whose Valentine!

Where did Valentine's Day originate from? The history of the holiday—and the story of its patron saint—is shrouded in mystery. We do know that February has long been celebrated as a month of romance, and that St. Valentine’s Day, as we know it today, contains vestiges of both Christian and ancient Roman tradition.  Who was Saint Valentine and how did he become associated

with this ancient rite?
